TGIF....

Whats that you say? Its not Friday? 
I know... Just stay with me. 
Just so ya'll know, I spent 2 hours writing this post a couple weeks ago. I stayed up until 2 am. Posted it. Clicked on the edit button cause I had a little type-o that I wanted to fix and Botta Boom Botta Bang it was GONE. Vanished into thin air. And, since I broke my own cardinal rule to NEVER blog something in blogger but into a word document, it truly was gone. I was so ticked I just left it alone. For 3 whole weeks. Now I've decided to be un-ticked on and RE-POST this week's top ten list.
 Today's Top Ten Tuesday comes from the TGIF days.  
Now, I know it is not Friday... 
{Actually it's Tuesday and I am actually participating in my own Tripple T list on my own blog, on the right day. Send in the press. It may never happen again. Kidding, it's going to happen all the time now.} N-E-Ways, back to reality.  
Now, Friday is not what I meant by TGIF. What I really meant was that since it is Tuesday, it is time for Triple T, (Top Ten Tuesday) and the list I have decided to make today comes from my early pre-teen years. 

Remember the TGIF television line-up in the early 90's?

Oh the memories I have of TGIF. I loved TGIF! I remember so many Friday nights my brothers and I fighting over who got to control the channel. My brothers didn't like all the shows that were on so if they were in charge I didn't get to watch Full House or Family Matters. I used to whine and beg them to let me watch all the shows in the line up but they rarely let me. I also remember when it dawned on me to outsmart them. If I got to the television before they did then I had controller rights. You know, the old "I was here first" rule that holds ALL the clout in the world to children. I used to plan on Fridays to come home quickly from school and rush through my homework and get to the television before they did so that I would have the remote rights for the entire line-up. Oh the good old days before TVO.

And for a nice walk down memory lane, here is my Top Ten favorite sitcoms from the good ol days. 

In no particular order:

1. Full House

I said no particular order, and while the other 9 can't be ordered by liking per-say, this one can. Full House was my ULTIMATE fave.

And long before I even realized that men existed I had a huge crush on Uncle Jesse. Little did I know what amazing taste in men I would end up having. He still makes me weak in the knees. Mullet and all.

2. Step-by-Step

I thought this show was HILARIOUS.

And what a cute group of misfits in a step family.
And in my traditional, boy crazy, pre-teen, stage of life cousin Cody was the ultimate hottie.

Reflecting back on this, does anyone else think its hilarious that the dude lived in a van down by the river in the back yard?

3. Family Matters

I know you are all saying it right now: "Did I do that?"

Something about a black nerd that everyone pretended to hate but secretly loved.
Remember that one episode when he stepped into a time machine and came out all Non-Nerd-Bomber-Like and we all did double takes, picked up our jaws off the ground and stopped drooling and never looked at the Urkel the same way again? Ya, me too.

4. Boy Meets World 

I always felt bad for Cory. Having the SAME teacher from grade school all the way through high school {how odd is that?} AND having him for a next door neighbor. He could never escape from Mr. Feeny.
Long before I knew what a woman crush was, and long before I would ever admit to having one, I totally had one on Topanga.  

 She is hot. 

 5. Charles in Charge

It's all I can do not to break right out into song. Meh, gonna do it anyways.

"New Boy in the neighborhood. Lives downstairs and its understood. He's there just to take good care of me, like he's one of the family. Charles in charge of our days and our nights. Charles in charge of wrongs and our rights. And I sing I want Charles in Charge of me."

Oh what I wouldn't give now to have Charles be my babysitter. :) 

Once again, before I even knew that men existed, I sighed heavily at Scott Baio. What a stud muffin. 

 6. Small Wonder

Remember the robot maid slash slave? 
I think its hilarious that they made a slave out of a child sized robot and got away with it.  
Remember how annoying that neighbor girl was? I remember being ticked about that cause she was a red-head and I thought that because she was annoying all red-heads must be annoying. I was worried that I was no exception. 

 7. Mr. Belvedere

Again, in my youth I don't remember much about this show, other than remembering how glad I was that I didn't have to answer to a strict old English butler.  
I also remember how he used to drink lots of tea. And I had no idea what tea was, but I was told by my parents that it was bad for you. Oh the random and scattered memories I have. LOL.
 

 
 8. Out of this World

 This girl had the coolest secret power ever.
See, her mom was human and her dad was an alien. He had to stay in outer space because he couldn't survive on earth or something like that, but because she was the breed of such 2 species, she had secret powers. One of which was to freeze time by holding her fingers together, as pictured above.  
It was gold. Pure gold. This one my brothers and I always agreed on. They loved the idea of freezing time just as much as I did. 
You could be swinging on a star. :)  

 
 9. Who's The Boss?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Tony Danza is Yummy in this role. I remember SO much about this show. It was iconic in my youth.

 10. Hanging With Mr. Cooper.

Oh man was this show funny. All I remember was that he was a substitute teacher that lived with 2 female roommates and that I loved it all. 

 This was the best video I could come up with. Its stupid Karaoke but it gets the point across. 

There you have it folks. If you are an 80's junkie like me you will swoon over these videos, as I have.If you don't care about the 80's or if you never watched these shows, well... that's just sad.

11. Perfect Strangers 

Ticked... And Triple T. (Does that make it quadruple T if I'm ticked too?)

I am ticked that I have missed yet another Tuesday. I created Triple T, making a top ten list for every Tuesday like 6 weeks ago and I think that I have posted only 1 list. I'm ticked because seriously EVERY TUESDAY for the past too many weeks Tuesdays have magically become my busy run-around-with-your-head-cut-off kind of day and I fail to post the list that I made originally for like some Tuesday back in May. DUH! Today I had a few minutes to post (or so I thought) and I just got super busy doing other things. So, I have failed yet again at posting this Top Ten List. But instead of waiting till next Tuesday and making you all think that I forgot about my own invention, I have decided to just break the rules and post it on Wednesday. (Well, it could still be considered Tuesday because its 12:36 am and I am still up blogging. But probably all of you will not see it until Wednesday unless you are like me, reading blogs at one in the morning.

So, here you go, this is one of my favorite lists…

My Top Ten Favorite Musicals.

Some of these are only movies, some of them are only theater productions, some are both… But I decided they can fall into the same list because they are all musicals.

I tried to put these in order of my liking, but I just couldn’t do it. So, in no particular order:

1.       Tarzan

Now, it is critical to note that I am NOT talking about the Disney movie (although it is a pretty good movie.) I am talking about the original Broadway show.

I saw this on Broadway in 2006 and was S.M.I.T.T.E.N.

It has the most brilliant music, and it had brilliant staging and costumes and I still think about those scenes that I only saw one time 5 long years ago.

2.       Newsies 

Of course this is only a movie, but am I not the only one who thinks it is one of the greatest oversights in our UNIVERSE that no one has made it into a Broadway show yet? Hello??? It's destined for greatness. And how yummy is Jack Kelly “you think I'm lyin’?”

It was one of the first musicals I ever saw as a child. I still remember the first time I watched it. I was in 5^th grade, visiting my aunt in Texas, my cousins friend brought it over. Little did I know what I was about to feast my eyes on.

3.       Little Shop of Horrors

Now, I have only seen one stage production of this. Actually it was my first exposure to the show. I'd never even heard of it prior to my junior year of high school. (Don't judge, my parents are not big musical lovers and therefore why would they have introduced me to the magic that is Little Shop?)

My good friend Jessi did a brilliant job at playing Audrey and I still remember how brilliantly she mastered that unforgettable voice.

Besides that play the movie is the only showing I have seen of this play. And holy Rick Moranis is a gem.

And Steve Martin steals my heart, except that he is a sadist wacko. No biggie.

4.       Memphis

I've blogged about this show before. I saw it on Broadway once and a taping of that show two other times. I cried the second and the third time watching it. I can't really say much else about this show other than go to New York right now to see it. It's that good. It's Tony-award-winning-for-best-musical-in-2010-good.

I'm head over heals. 

5.       Wicked

Everyone knows about this show and everyone knows why it is amazing. I saw it on Broadway only once. It's on the bucket list to see at least another time in the big apple before I die.

6.       Thoroughly Modern Millie

This is another one that is both a movie and a stage production. I have seen both and don't really care for the movie, which is surprising because Julie Andrews is one of my favorite actresses.

Sutton Foster one the Tony for her role as Millie the week before I saw her perform the role on Broadway.

She completely and totally lived up to her award. I adore this show.

7.       Sound of Music.

I have also blogged about my love for this musical before. I have never seen a stage production of this (even thought I actually was in one back in 2003) but it’s not my favorite on stage. There is only one song that is different than the movie that I care for. I love Julie Andrews in the film version though, as well as Christopher Plumber and every other cast member.

It's such a gem. It is the first musical I ever remember watching and one of the few that my father loves. He definitely gifted to me that love of this musical.

8.       Singing in the Rain

This is one movie that I could watch over and over and over again and never tire of. Debbie Reynolds is majestic and Gene Kelly is one of my idols. They are so charismatic together. I LOVE THIS FILM.

9.       Aida

I have only seen this show on stage twice. At a little local theatre that did a magnificent production job. You know I love something when I make plans to see it again, this is one such show. I’d actually never even heard of it before I went to the showing. Not knowing what to expect I immediately fell in love with it. The plot, the music. Its magical. So, in my immediate  love affair I went home and bought tickets to go see it again the next night. I have done this several times with shows I love. I have yet to do it in New York but I always wish I had after I am done. I am taking this into consideration for the next trip I take.

And finally # 10.

Footloose. 

I really like the movie version of this show. I mean how yummy is Kevin Bacon?

But my true love for the show is in its theatre production. I've only seen one high schools pathetic version of the show being done as an audience member. I was in the show in high school, but my real love came simply from the original Broadway cast recording soundtrack. It's magical, for lack of a better word. (all of these shows are magical to me in some way)

Before signing off though, I have a sort of embarrassing confession to make… It is super duper juvenile but my runner up that barely got cut from the list is Annie. I have only seen the movie and not that new one they came out with just a few years ago. The original from the 80’s. The reason I love it is the freeking talent that it showcases, and actually not Annie herself… she is ok in my opinion but NOT the reason I watch it. Burnadette Peters and Tim Curry blow me away.

And who doesn’t adore Carol Burnette in all her villan-ness.

And Ann Reinking is to die for.

Totally juvenile and embarrassing but I truly love this movie.

As I said when I created Triple T, I did it because it is a way I get to know people in real life. I am always asking people to give me their top ten of something. You can really learn a lot about somebody from their top ten lists. That is what I love about it. I think you all will get to know me better from this lovely and I want you all to participate too. Tripple T's Debut.

Introducing Top Ten Tuesday.

For those of you who know me really well you probably know that I love making top ten lists. It is how I really get to know someone. I will ask them to tell me their top ten favorite musical artists of all time, or top ten movies of all time or top ten dream destinations. You get the idea. Sometimes when it is a tough topic I will only make them give me 5, like top 5 favorite authors or top 5 fastest cars. So, since I love making lists I thought it would be a fun thing to implement on the blog. And I am even going to figure out how to make a button for this thing-y too. {As well as my “small moments” button that I am dying to create} and I have a dream of making a Top Ten Tuesdays linky party too someday. I was smitten by Ferris. I couldn't wait until I was old enough to ditch school.

Can you see the theme? Macaulay Culkin, Robbin Williams, Christopher Lloyd, for some reason I liked the same actors. And I really fantasized about being young and rich. 

10. Angels in the Outfield

Told you Baseball was born in my blood.
